Seed-stage technology startups face a daunting task in an unforgiving environment. While protecting core intellectual property assets and growing value on a limited budget, start-ups have to both engage potential customers and seek venture capital, often as the first institutional investor. The VC community has moved downstream to later-stage investments, and even angels are demanding a degree of technical and market validation that may not exist at the early-stage.
incTANK can help even at this uncertain stage. Indeed, it is at venture inception that our skills and money are best placed. Most mistakes in technology start-ups occur at the start, when intellectual property rights are at risk, the team is fluid, and legal foundations uncertain.
To help an entrepreneur get to the point at which a company may be “venture-backable,” we provide the resources and support even absent a commitment on the founder’s side. This is not completely altruistic; the pre-funding process provides incTANK with an opportunity to see early investment candidates in advance of funding, and the chance of setting up our portfolio companies on a solid early footing on their path to success.
Even before approaching us, an entrepreneur may want to consider existing portfolio and investment criteria to see if their development strategy and market focus is consistent with our interests and skills. We also provide the following resources for potential entrepreneurs and interested partners.
